The popular Raspberry Pi miniature desktop computer besides being a flexible platform for fun, utility, and experimentation, can be directly used in electronics projects because it has general purpose input and output pins right on the board. The Raspberry Pi can form a basis for building numerous measurement and control systems by both professionals and hobbyists.
This book is thought as a highly practical guide that can help the readers to design and program measurement and control systems based upon the Raspberry Pi. These systems can comprise external electronic circuits controlled by programs written in GNU C. Projects described in the book illustrate processing digital and analog signals and using I/O expanders. Since many measurement systems process analog signals, the guide contains a brief theory and practical applications dedicated to use of popular high-resolution analog-to-digital converters. The methods of processing small analog signals with instrumentation amplifiers are discussed as well.
The material of the book also covers digital signal synthesis with digital potentiometers and digital-to-analog converters. The readers will find practical designs of digitally programmable wide-band oscillators and PWM circuits. Each project is accompanied by a brief description which helps to make things clear. Most projects described in the book can be improved or modified if necessary. Each project includes a schematic circuit accompanied by a C source code with the detail explanation. All projects were designed using the Raspberry Pi Model B Rev.2 board running Raspbian OS.

The title says it all. When I first scanned this book, I was more than a little disappointed. I thought it spent way too much time discussing details of primitive things like hooking up the cables, programming the SD card, etc. And not near enough about the "good stuff" like programming in C and assembly language. Not even Python. I didn't expect a tutorial in C programming, but I had hoped for at least a mention of GNU, gcc, and gdb.

Disappointed, I set the book aside and set out to find out for myself, using Google and other books, the things I needed to know.

Not being a Linux person, I had a lot to learn. I could use the bash shell, but only enough to do primitive things. I wanted to personalize my Pi, setting it up with larger fonts and a good screen editor. I had flubbed my first pass through the setup program, raspi-config, and wanted another go. I spent a LOT of time in Google and in emails, hoping to find answers to my questions, but only found more questions.

But recently, I took another look at the book. Imagine my surprise to discover that it answered EVERY SINGLE ONE of the questions I'd amassed over the last few months. It wasn't a matter of the book not meeting my needs; it was a matter of the fact that I didn't even know what my needs were.

The first step in getting answers to any question is to know enough to ask it. On my first pass through the book, all those answers went right over my head. It's only been on the second reading that I've discovered just how helpful it is.

If you are already a Linux wizard, can speak grep and makefile in your sleep, and want to write the next killer app, this book is not for you. But if you're new to Linux, and want to make your Pi a more comfortable environment, I can't recommend it enough.

Programming Raspberry Pi Measurement Systems in C eBook Yury Magda Reviews

There is not an author's web site with the source code. So unless you want to buy the book to teach you how to type I would avoid the book.
Exceeded expectations.
this is exactly what I was looking for.
Excellent information source for my Raspberry Pi designs.
Nice little book and an easy way to find stuff..which aint easy with the rpi.
This book is dated. The Raspberry PI has seen a number of updates which have using the Pi for a measurement system interfacing to hardware using the SPI or I2C extremely difficult.
